Job Start Australia have helped kick-off one of Cragieburn's newest fast-food retailers, by providing Hungry Jack's with the recruitment of local team members.
A NEW Craigieburn fast food store is set to employ more than 50 Hume locals when it opens on Wednesday.
Hungry Jack’s already has several stores in Hume, including Roxburgh Park and Sunbury.
Job Start Victoria founder Teresa Ebejer has recruited more than 200 locals to work at Hungry Jack’s stores across Hume, including 54 at Craigieburn.
“I believe that employing local people keeps the economy going in that local area, instead of taking away from somewhere else,” Ms Ebejer said.
“It’s one of the most important things we can do for the community.”
Job Start Victoria is a specialist employment service which aims to connect disadvantaged job seekers with employment.
Passionate about engaging young people, Ms Ebejer said she considered recruiting people from all walks of life.
“A lot of kids just need a foot in the door, they just need an opportunity,” she said. “We don’t judge anyone — everyone is a book and we open one page at a time.”
Craigieburn Hungry Jack’s will celebrate its grand opening this weekend at 420 Craigieburn Rd.
